It's that time of year again. We're feverishly preparing for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. We've just finished another piece of zombie art in time for the show and we're working on another steampunk print to be finished just in time.
We're in the same general position again across from artist alley. Come see us at booth 625/725.

I'm getting ready to head back down to Seattle to exhibit at the Emerald City Comiccon. This will be our first time contributing to the Monsters and Dames artbook. 2012 celebrates the ECC's 10th anniversary and we couldn't be happier to have our work included along with all of the amazing talent the ECC brings together.
Here's a sneak peek at a part of our picture. This demon's head was sculpted in Zbrush by Jaysin based on Embrio's drawing.

We are very proud to announce that our fantasy picture Make a Wish was chosen as this year's cover for the Calgary Expo artbook. We are also donating a large canvas print of the cover to the charity auction befitting the Make a Wish Foundation. We look forward to seeing all of you who can make it to this year's show. We are located in booth #415/515 across from artist alley.

Not much ;)
It's been way too long to even bother with an excuse. There just hasn't been much going on in DPI Studios land. That's not entirely true, but most of it is behind the scenes stuff that isn't really worth mentioning since some projects just never pan out and others (like a new website) seem to drag on and on.
That being said, it's coming up on convention season again and we have a few new pictures for the shows. First up is the
Edmonton Collectible Toy and Comic Show on the 28th of March. Then, of course, the big one.

We've been a little quite around here, bracing ourselves for the storm that is the August-September convention run. First up is the
Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival August 14-16, then the next weekend, August 21-23 we head up to the
Edmonton Tattoo and Arts Festival. Then it's off to the
Fan Expo in Toronto the next weekend August 28-30. It will be our first time at the Fan Expo and we're looking forward to meeting the fans in Toronto.

July 18th I will be teaching a one day digital painting workshop through the
Digital Alberta assocation. I will be primarily focusing on Photoshop and how to use it as a digital painting tool. I'll take students through the completion of a painting from preparing the line art to the finishing touches and all points in-between. I've been using Photoshop for 13 years, so I've got a tip or two to share that I have learnt along the way.
I will also be touching on Corel's Painter, a program I have been using more and more these last few years.

*Update* Just wanted to point out that the event is free to attend. Paid registration is only required if you participate in the tournament. See you there.

We will have a table at this years
Lilac Festival Sunday May 31st in Calgary. It's our first time doing an outdoor show. Hmm, selling art prints/books at an outdoor show? Wind? Rain? Snow? What could possibly go wrong?
